Julius Meinl is proud to have been THE ambassador for Viennese coffeehouse culture since 1862. As the first professional roaster in Europe and through constant innovation, Julius Meinl has built a unique and highly successful coffee culture based on Viennese tradition. Since 1862 Julius Meinl has stood for experience, tradition and products of premium quality.
The famous Julius Meinl Logo is an iconic symbol recognized throughout the entire world since its foundation in 1862,. The logo symbolizes a young man wearing a Fez (red head-dress with a tassel) and pays tribute to the historical influence of the Turkish Ottoman Empire which brought coffee to Vienna in 1683. The original logo was designed by the well-known Viennese artist Josef Binder in 1924. It has been modernized over the years, to resemble the European Baroque angels found throughout Austria’s rich architecture. This logo is Julius Meinl’s international trademark. The brand enjoys a very strong position in Europe, especially in its home country of Austria, but it is also well established overseas.
Julius Meinl is the No. 1 premium HoReCa coffee brand worldwide AND is also a leading global HoReCa tea brand.
We value our origins and heritage; in other words tradition, Vienna and history. Ever since 1862, we have upheld our brand’s fine tradition. Our coffees, our service and presentation set us apart. Served on a silver tray in a porcelain cup and saucer with a small glass of water and a spoon balanced atop, Julius Meinl coffee tastes best when served in this traditional Viennese way. It is this presentation and service that allows the customer to sit back, relax and take time to enjoy a real cup of coffee, a single espresso, tea or hot chocolate.
“As the ambassador for Viennese coffeehouse culture, we are dedicated to serving our customers pleasurable and poetic time-outs. Julius Meinl inspires you - and being inspired, you inspire others.”
Vienna, the birth place of the Julius Meinl company, has historically been a rich breeding ground for creativity as well as inspiration, and it remains so to this day. Simply put Vienna, with its coffeehouses, is a place of poetry and inspiration.
