The History of Julius Meinl

In the Name of the Meinl Mohr.
Julius Meinl Coffee is part of the broader Julius Meinl Group, founded in Vienna in 1862. It trades in over 70 countries, selling high quality coffees, teas, chocolate products and fruit preserves. Our coffees are blended and roasted in Vienna (Austria) and Vicenza (Italy).
The broader Julius Meinl Group also includes Julius Meinl am Graben, Vienna’s city centre gourmet food store, Meinl Internet Commerce, which sells our products online worldwide under www.meinl.com and the Meinl Bank.

Continuing success since 1862.

The Meinl story begins in 1862 when Julius Meinl I opened his first grocery store, selling spices and green coffee in the center of Vienna. He created coffee blends and was the first to offer them freshly roasted for sale. Julius Meinl founded a new market, as his innovation saved customers the challenge of roasting the green coffee beans on their kitchen stoves. Selling coffee roasted maintained a constant, reliable quality coffee blend. Since then, the Julius Meinl name has become synonymous with know-how, tradition, and products of the highest quality. Members of the Meinl family are still very active in the company today.
